Erik Magnussen
A second, equally celebrated Erik Magnussen was born in Copenhagen in 1940 and trained as a ceramist at the School of Applied Arts and Design, graduating with a silver medal in 1960. He worked for Bing & Grøndahl as an industrial designer before becoming one of Denmark's most respected product and furniture designers, known for his association with Stelton — for whom he designed the iconic EM77 vacuum jug (1977) — and Carl Hansen & Søn. His design language was defined by purity of form, pragmatism, and an unadorned minimalism that epitomises the best of Scandinavian design. He passed away in 2014.
